302 W 3rd Avenue, Warren, Pennsylvania
Thomas Struthers, a lawyer & businessman, built the Struthers Library Building in 1883.

The glass and steel marquee, installed in 2018, was part of a successful capital campaign effort, which included a new roof, elevator, seats, and lift in celebration of the theatre’s 135th anniversary.
The theatre lobby, renovated in 1919
The mural, based on a work by Lawrence Alma-Tadema, depicts the greek poets Sappho and Alcaeus.
The Kidney bean
The mezzanine features a unique kidney shaped design overlooking the Orchestra seating.
The Mead Family Library Room
The theatre was built with the original intention of housing the Warren Public Library, which it did until 1916. The remaining space, including the performance hall, was rented to subsidize the library.
Balcony with a view
In 1919, a domed ceiling of plaster and lathe was suspended directly under the square opera house, and the horseshoe-shaped balcony was replaced.
The fire Curtain
The rarely seen safety curtain covers a 35’ x 20’ proscenium arch. Its stenciling represents the first appearance of the iconic Library Theatre peacocks.
The House
Seating 902, the house is a thoroughly modern performance space. In 2008, as part of a capital campaign effort celebrating the theatre’s 125th anniversary, extensive restoration and updating took place.
The Stage
82 theatrical lights, 28 line sets (curtain rails), and a 7500w sound system put on quite a show.
Sally’s Encore theatre bar
Formerly the Warren Post Office, Sally’s Encore nears completion in early 2021. Named for a great lover of and advocate for the theatre, Sally Sokolski.
The Award Winning Struthers Library Theatre
Struthers Library Theatre was awarded the Outstanding Historic Theatre of the Year in 2018 by the League of Historic American Theatres.
